Why buy a Forsham product? From the timber that's a high grade pine, which is also taken through a pressure treatment plant to make it even stronger. To the fixings that are far from standard with their secondary plating process. You have a product thats ready to withstand the harshest weather for many years to come.

The timber we use comes from the stiff bits of a tree and these particular trees grow in a part of the world where it snows a lot and the people are apparently morbid becuase the sun doesn't shine and they keep standing in reindeer pooh.
There are two basic types of pine white pine and red pine. White pine is a light, loose grained section used on cheaper specification sheds or to light the fire. Red pine is more substantial, fuller bodied, far denser, heavier and tighter grained. It is more resistant to rot and would be used in the joinery trade. We use the red pine or, to give it its full title, Scandinavian joinery grade redwood. All the sections are PAR (planed all round) so there are no scruffy faces or splinters. You can still light the fire with red wood but it has to be an AGA!

Fixings and door furniture is either zinced, galvanised, sheridised, pasteurised or mesmerised.

The wire is galvanised, for the most part we use 1/2 x 1" 19 gauge. On the Orpingtons and Rye Run we use 1" x 1" 16 gauge.
Scratch Mats are 2" x 2" , 25mm mesh. We use wire with special holes in it to let the light and air in. These holes are free, but we will make a charge for the frames!!!
All our work is constructed from pressure treated 'to ground contact' standard timbers. However to deter the boards from drying out and cracking we strongly advise the our customers treat the unit at least once a year (twice is better). For that purpose we have sourced and trialed an animal safe, water based, clear treatment that can be applied to damp timbers and is durable enough to be recommended for marine use. An application of Forsham Woodsealer will aidwater shedding (water off a ducks back).
NOTE: The manufacturer's blurb says for 'interior use'. This is because the treatment is not Ultra Violet secure so although the treatment supremely protects the timber, it does not stop it naturally ageing due to exposure to the sun, which in our opinion is a bonus.
