Forsham Cottage Arks came into being in 1979 when we tried to buy poultry housing for our small holding. We discovered the only housing on the market was poorly concieved and generally of low standard of workmanship so we built our own. It was not long before we were being asked to supply arks for others, thus Forsham Cottage Arks was born.
We now supply numerous breeders, domestic poultry keepers, specialist waterfowl and poultry outlets, rare breed farms, schools and people who want to keep a few hens. We are very proud to say that the botanical gardens at Kew have an example of our Lamberhurst dovecote.
In the beginning we set down a few simple criteria which we endevour to strictly uphold. The arks must be practical from both the occupants' and the keepers' point of view. The standard of design, materials, craftsmanship and finish must be second to none. Originally we did not build sectional units preferring to sell fully assembled housing. As Forsham expanded, not only in the UK but in Europe also, we had for economic reasons to develop easily built kits. The Dovecotes, however, still come fully built with the post separate.
Finally just because you are buying a chicken house does not mean it has to be an eyesore. We take a great deal of care in making our housing as aesthetically pleasing as possible. As one of our customers once said. "These are arks even your neighbours can be proud of". We invite you to be our judge.
